  • Wireless headphones for outdoor cinema screenings

    Hi,

do any of you happen to have have some experience with wireless headphones for outdoor cinema screenings? They're most often used on Silent Disco events but we're looking to buy some for cinema screenings.

We bought some from China around 5 years ago (these ones - https://www.go-on.cn/Silent-Disco-Headphones/408.html) but they picked up a lot of interference from some cellular frequencies (not sure if 3G or 4G) and they were unusable in some locations. We already own a FM-transmitter for drive-ins but would like to have a separate system for seated screenings.

Do you know of any known brands that you can recommend? My colleague posted a thread two years ago (http://www.film-tech.com/ubb/f1/t012435.html) but he didn't find a solution.

    Thanks!

I do use same headphones you linked here in Italy for outdoor and indoor screenings, but with no interfecence issues.

Mikhel - you should look up the documentation or labels on the transmitter/earphones in order to find out the UHF band/frequency they are using. Depending on type/country, they may overlap with local terrestrial digital TV or 4G. 4G is working on different bands in different countries.
Sometimes the manufacturer makes these products with different bands for different countries.

As a consideration, perhaps you can use the USL (QSC) IR emitter system that we use for HI/VI. It would be the UPC emitter panel and the IRH-280/IRH-281.
