Ben, I think Ioannis maybe spotted one of the problems. You seem to be using the Christie manual's section for setting up a CHRISTIE CONTENT NAS (via the NAS port etc), when what really should be doing is following any instructions for "Remote Ingest from a FTP" available in your Integrated Media Block manual (assuming of course remote ingest is what you are trying to accomplish?). The port labeled NAS on the Christie is probably not needed, you just need the Synology on the same management network as the IMB, via a switch or whatever is in your location. If it is ONLY plugged into the NAS port, I'm not sure you can communicate with an FTP site over that interface?

On the other hand, If you are aiming for the Synology to augment or replace the Christie NAS for playout, then it's a different method, and yes involves the NAS ports and configuring NFS etc.

After reading all these posts, I don't see that FTP was ever enabled and configured on the Synology NAS. Ben, have you followed the steps in the document How can I access files on Synology NAS via FTP?

By default FTP will not work on a
Synology NAS until the steps in the document above are followed.

Very much in danger of discussing amongst ourselves. But Ben's first post mentioned he had tested FTP against the Synology using FileZilla from a client machine, so at least it does sound like FTP is correctly enabled on Synology. Obviously he needs to see if the IMB can even see that synology IP address (my 1st response). And considering the two possible NAS configuration goals, we lack most of the needed information that might be more instructive.

I did see that Ryan. But Ben's statement:

I've got everything set up and can FTP with username and password (using FileZilla), but when I put in the details, it does not work. I tried various FTP options (think passive is probably the one I want).
..can be interpreted as FTP is not working. If Ben can confirm that FTP via FileZila does work to transfer a file to/from the NAS and a Windows client that would at least narrow the issue to components other than the Synology NAS. For example, there are know issues with Windows Network Explorer that I have seen on my home network. The Synology Assistant that Jim mentioned does find devices that Windows Explorer does not see at times.

Ahh I see your point, could be read as if FileZilla was failing too. I read that as it tested fine with FileZilla and he was in the christie content NAS menu when connection test was timing out.
