  • GDC XSP-1000 login?

Would someone be able to DM me the relevant config user/pass combo for a GDC XSP-1000 if known?

I have an ebay unit i'm playing with that has a bad display but otherwise seems to work fine. Found a very custom IP address with wireshark as it booted, and the web remote works, but can't log into configs to change IP address.

I think there might have been a software GUI app too for USB/Serial, but not gettable without GDC support it seems. Not being a customer per say figured I'd ask here first.

PS aware it is basically a re-branded USL JSD-80, but figured the login credentials might be unique to GDC. I'm not privy to the USL ones either.

Just call GDC abd talk to Tech Support. Explain how you got it and ask for any passwords thjat may pertain to that unit, and if they will sell you a new display, or the PCB. Harold Halikinin may also be able to help. Also, those displays are usually off the shelf items. Had to replace one in my Parasound ZTuner before. They fade with age too.

Will do. Came from an ewaste seller... just trying to keep it out of the bin.

Hah. My home stereo is mostly still Parasound, lol. (Well at least the pre-amp, amps, CD, and tuner). Have a couple of those Z units floating around as well. Speaking of amazing support, I had their 25+ year old HP-850 Preamp crap out on me a few years ago... they repaired it at no cost and free shipping!!

I also had a CD transport from them where they sent me a new belt no questions asked, again 25+ year old product.

Probably my best, most long lived, "young adult" purchase that still gets used. Either before or shortly after I bought the first component I remember seeing a behind the scenes at LucasFilm during the Episode IV era, where they were talking to an audio engineer. THey had a component parasound amp visible in the shot powering their studio monitors. hah.

FYI, Here is the display behavior I've got. Not dead, but glitched into the Matrix somewhere. Reseating the ZIF connector didn't change anything.

All pixels respond though on boot when you see it do an initial screen "wipe" in white.

Either the incoming data is corrupt, or the decoder in the display is bad. In my experience with these, it is the display 80% of the time.

I had that board off to reseat the front panel plastic that covers the display, but other than reseating the tiny ZIF connector, I have not looked for a part number on that display module yet. Will do if GDC gets back to me with login and software.

Hah. So close. GDC got me the software... with which I can talk to it via IP or RS232. But despite jumping through all the windows startup options driver certificate BS to get the WinUSB drivers installed... despite the device properly associating to libusb in device manager....

Neither the IP Set utility nor the main GUI software can find the XSP-1000 via the USB option. USB appears to be the ONLY option for IP Set utility. I recall from other threads WinUSB being a royal PITA. Now I agree.

I'll have to dig up those other (Probably USL Inc) threads for any tips unless someone knows the silver bullet methods with USB and IP Set utility, or an alternative.

They also did not give me that config web UI password (yet).

PS David did say they don’t sell or repair this unit anymore, so I’m on my own for the display if I care to fix it.
