  • KDM Server GDC Schedule

    Hi,

On an SR1000 server, some KDMs are showing an expiration time of UTC 00:00 and not -3, which is Brazil's time.
In this case of the movie ShadowForce, the KDM email says that the movie will be valid for showing at 10:30, while on the server and in the KDM itself it says that it will validate at 15:30. And it validated at 10:30, as it says in the email.

On the KDM it reads not valid before 13:30:00+00:00 That is 13:30:00 UTC+0
If you do the math, given that your timezone is UTC-3, 13:30:00 minus 03:00:00 makes 10:30:00
The last picture also states 13:30:00 UTC, so that is in accordance with the KDM.
I don't see any discrepancy here.

Edit: Is this matter about the fact that the SR1000 server should translate any time to local and it doesn't?

It is optional for KDMs to carry validity window in UTC or with offsets - servers should understand both variants and display local times. But depending on the part of GUI, this may not always be the case, e.g. when in some places raw KDM data is displayed.

This is WHY AutoKDM tool converts all incoming time data to local time, so people don't have to. You can also see the raw fields as well. But yes. Making it clear what the NotValidBefore and NotValidAfter fields contain, and also show local time it represents. I commonly see these fields with GMT +00:00, making them hard to figure.

KDMs with slightly out start/end times are likely the second most common KDM issue (After the booking agents simply forgetting to enter them)

Personally, I think any software with KDM critical information should be doing timezone conversion and display on top of showing the RAW text. Its UI design 101.
