  • Barco series 1 - touch screen

I was doing maintenance of my BARCO 2000. But now, I can't get the KEYPAD to accept my PIN to clear a tampering error. All 3 of my DALLAS KEYS are confirmed and registered in the Barco. And the panel turns YELLOW when any of my Dallas Keys touch the key base. I enter my complete PIN (all 8 numbers) but it flashes RED for 1 second as REJECTED.

The ribbon cable attached to the rear of the keypad within the EBox is secure.

I just can't see an entire keypad failing. It lights up and the button FEEL OK. It was working last October.

I am changing the PIN CODES to 11111111 and 22222222..... hoping to LUCK OUT and find a working button on keypad

I think I tried a different EBox with the same 3 working cards,,,,, and had the same bad results.

The ON SITE MARRIAGE only a Barco series 2 fix????

HELP AND ADVICE REQUESTED FOR THIS "OLD" MACHINE

AFAIK, the onsite marriage feature is only Series 2, and there are minimum version requirements for both the projector's firmware and the Barco Communicator client. I can't remember the numbers, but it doesn't matter too much, because it is possible to update the projector as required when it is in the tampered state.

Do any of the keys on the keypad briefly change color when you push them? If you try to use them to execute a macro, do any work? If you can identify some that work but not others, then change the code so as to only use the good numerals, and you should be all set. But if none of them do, it looks like you'll need a new keypad, if you can get hold of one.

Yes. Onsite marriage is only for S2. I think S2 SW around 1.8 supports it but S1 software hasn't had updates for a long time. Communicator doesn't show the marriage option when connected to an S1 projector. If your S2 projector is in older SW the option is there but it doesn't work.
The membrane buttons work by pushing a conductive rubber disc against a PCB pattern. The PCB metal corrodes or the rubber deteriorates and the buttons don't work. This happens with earlier S2 as well. A revised S2 button panel with protruding buttons was introduced and retrofit ones were or are available but S1 button panels have been NLA for a while.
If I owned an S1 Elca box I would try making a kludged button with a normal switch, but I don't. It may be possible, worth a try. Only one good working button is required to do the marriage.
