Nec nc 900 errors

Hi friends

I have nec nc 900 it's has been working good last few years

after some days switch on my projector will take 250sec above to on the projector in nec communicator . After seeing the error , certificate error and key error coming , what can I do . kindly do needful to sort out this problem.

Hello and welcome to the forum,

Without a log or more information it's hard to tell, What is the error number with this. But it looks like you possibly have a dead ICP PCB or Enigma if you have a Signal input Board installed. I'd suggest you get in touch with your service provider.

Hello Rajendran,
Your ICP PCB is most certainly having issues, it is the 305 and 306 errors that are of concern, and is why you are getting the other marriage related errors. The ICP cert battery has either failed and the ICP will need to be replaced, or if the Certificate battery is okay, an ICP recovery will need to be preformed and hopefully the ICP can be recovered.

Assuming that you have already tried a hard reboot, you need a new ICP (PWB = printed wire board, which is what NEC manuals call any board or card):

Did you keep track of when the user changable ICP battery was last changed? 5 years is the maximum time on that battery...

If the clock battery is allowed to die, that won't kill the ICP. The projector won't work until you replace it and reset the clock such that it is within six minutes (the DCI budget) of the IMB it receives content from (at least a Series 2 Barco won't: I've never had to fix a dead ICP clock battery in any other make of projector), but it will be OK once you've done that. If this were the problem with Rajendran's projector, the error presenting would be 356:

However, if the certificate battery (the one soldered in place next to the clock battery) dies, the ICP is e-waste and the only fix is to buy a new one.

To hard reset, put the projector into standby mode, kill the power (rocker switch next to the C13/14 power connection to the right of the lamp compartments), wait 30 seconds, turn the power back on, boot up the projector from standby to card cage on, and see if the 305 and 306 errors reappear. If they do, the ICP needs to be replaced, in which case I would suggest contacting either your regular service tech, or the dealer from whom you bought the projector, for a quote and ETA for a replacement. The last time we had to buy an ICP for a Series 2 NEC (ordered October 2023, received April 2024) they were back ordered and the wait was six months: hopefully the situation in India won't be as bad.

Hello Rajendran,
A projector log will confirm whether the ICP Certificate is still intact or not. An ICP recovery is a quite involved process, and is really a job for your service provider to perform. All going well they'll have an ICP PWB in stock. ( I always have one in stock for my customers) So if the certificate was intact, they could try the recovery first, and if not successful they would then have the ICP PWB on hand to replace and get you up and running once all the other processes have been done.

New ICP PWB are supplied with the .98 DMD firmware installed as used in the NC-2000 and NC-1200, from the factory, and will require the firmware to be changed for the use on a .69 chipset as used in the NC900. If you are trying to find a used one, it is important to ensure it has the link cable for the use with the Dual UHP lamps, as earlier variants of the ICP PWB don't necessarily have it. Without this jumper there will be a noticeable flicker on screen. This is something your service provider will be able to assist with to ensure you get the correct ICP.

Plus also, ensure that you have a settings backup package downloaded from your projector before the ICP is replaced, too avoid the need for a full-scale reinstall (color calibration, etc.) afterwards. Even with a lost certificate, you can download the user-created ICP files.
