  • Plusrite PDXL-3000-BS adapter?

Hello, I received some Plusrite lamps as noted above and wanted to use them in a Barco 23B. According to Plusrite’s chart, this should work. Sadly, these lamps do not use the screw on end that all my other lamps use so the adapter does not work. It looks like the end of the lamp is actually a smooth shaft. Does anybody know where one can acquire the appropriate cathode adapter?

Link to the pulsrite chart you are citing for compatibility?

No pulsrite lamps are currently listed on Barco's DP2K-23B page:

Also the cathode adapters seem to depend on if you have a manual or motorized lamphouse. Which do you have?

Another gotcha is that there are two separate models of lamphouse for the DPXK-23B: the XL, for lamps from 3kW to 7kW..

...and the S/M, for 1.2kW to 4kW lamps:

Where I suspect you came unstuck is while both lamphouses will take a 3kW lamp, they won't take the same model of 3kW lamp. If your Plusrite has a threaded cathode end, I suspect that it's equivalent to the Ushio DXL-30BAF/L, which can only be used in the S/M lamphouse. If it won't work in your lamphouse, I would guess that you have an XL lamphouse, which will only take the DXL-30BA (or equivalent) in the 3kW size. The adapters in both cases are totally separate.

My suggestion would be to establish what model of lamphouse you have (if you're not sure, run its serial number, which should be on a label on the back, past Barco). Then find out from your Plusrite dealer which of the 3kW lamps in the above table yours is equivalent to. This should establish that either you have the right lamp but the wrong adapter, or vice versa, and enable you to swap whichever part is needed.

Leo, the 23B tops out at 4KW...on the S/M lamphouse applies. The XL lamphouse will physically fit but one would be using just the 3KW and 4KW BA or some form of film-cinema lamp (equivalent to the UXL40SC or thereabouts.

          Attached the chart.

The lamp house is manual, and to Leo’s Q, all of my 23B lamp houses handle the 6.5kw lamps in my 32Bs, so I presume that is the XL?

Sure ... but as you note, the XL will physically fit, and I have encountered 19Bs and 23Bs in the field with XL lamphouses in them. From Ron's comment, it looks like this is what he has, presumably because his multiplex has mixed 23Bs and 32Bs, and their lamphouses were spec-ed to be usable in any of the projectors.

From the table Ron posts above, it looks like the Plusrite PXDL-3000-BS is equivalent to the Ushio DXL-30BA. It will work in an XL lamphouse in a DPXK-23B projector, with an R859984K adapter needed on the cathode (back), and an R859985K on the anode (front, between the lamp and the UV filter). Any Barco official dealer would be able to order those for you, ourselves included.
