Wrapping up this project (unless I feel like diagnosing the video features card). I tried my alternate motherboard today, same error thrown related to detecting the video features hardware. So it would seem that proprietary video PCI card is bad.

An aside, with the alternate motherboard, although it booted as before, it DID NOT detect any licenses installed. Those must be tied to the MB hardware somehow, NVRAM perhaps. Swapping back to the original restored the 3 licenses. I did not try restoring from a backup configuration via USB, but manual is pretty clear about that not being a valid technique to transfer licenses on the XD20. Might get bored again one afternoon and try it, but no reason other than curiosity... the MB I have works and has the one license I care about.

With the XD10 licenses were tied to the MAC address of the motherboard. id imagine with the 20 they made things simpler - that is, licenses are backed up on the boards so if you reinstall/lose your HDD you don’t have to contact DTS - but they might still be looking for the MAC address.
there might be ways to change the MAC but it seems your board is working fine so happy days.
for the video card, you can try the hairdryer trick and see if by any chance those capacitors regain enough life to get the card detected - assuming it’s a capacitor issue of course.
