Dolby Stereo "A" Screening Issue

Are replacement LEDs still available, such as for the kelmar reverse scan analog readers? I'd like to purchase one of one could be had somewhere.

I bought the last of Component Engineerings' parts and sub assemblies from their film division and have quite a few raw LED assemblies. They were made for Dolby and have a cat number assigned to them. Depending on how the LED is mounted, it may be as simple as usoldering the old one and installing a new LED.

Did you get all of their PCBs like the Dolby Digital readers?

The only thing about CE's LEDs is that they were cut short to fit their sockets. Perhaps you got them in their raw state before being trimmed down.

Yes I have basement reader boards, some modules, etc. The LED's appear to be factory length. I also have a bunch of reader cables.

That was a good "score." Is it your plan to make it known you have them or is there not that many?

The Basement reader boards fit most OEM readers, including Kinoton. The CE Century basement reader board was special, with a 90-degree connector to avoid having to cut the soundhead up.

I'm glad the stuff didn't find its way into a landfill. I wonder what became of Brian Long. He was always very helpful.
