  • Connecting CP200 with DA20 and XD10

    Hello,

Since I got a lot of 35mm features in 4 track mag and was not so happy with playing them on a CP500, I decided to reinstall my CP200 since I have an MPU1 and this combination can handle mag much better.
Also moving one of my Bauer B12 35mm projectors out of my booth since the pull through on the Klangfilm mag head is not optimal.
I also have a Philips DP70 / AAII in my collection so that machine will be installed in the place of the B12, the DP70 will have no difficulty in playing 35mm 4 track.

Now my CP200 has the SRD update (108C,517,560 cards installed) and I have an DP20 for SRD, also have an DTS XD10, played in the past with DTS6.
I was reading the manuals on how to connected all of this.
My question is : do I really need an DTS 557 board to make this work or is there an other solution ?

You could make your own. The DA20 has internal format switching to break the CP 200 audio path but the XD10 doesn't

The DTS sound thru the CP200 modifications used the DTS D567 relay board module to switch the JM11 and JM21 audio lines in the CP200 between optical (CP200) and digital (DTS) source. As an aside, I also used the DTS D567 to create an external six channel input for the CP200 selected by Format 78.

Our booth has the CP200 dedicated to mag, and CP650 for everything else film. We have a little box wired near the projector heads with a toggle switch for which film processor is in use.

Our XD10 sits after the 650 on that path, and all of it feeds an AP20 which does the primary B-Chain, D-Cinema, and DVD/Blu-ray/UHD BluRay stuff.

There is also still a DMA8Plus in the rack, but if it is in use at all anymore it just stays in "film" mode, it pre-dated the AP20/D-Cinema install for DVD playback.

Unless you are an analog purist and don't want any modern A-D conversion in your chain, I feel like having a master processor above your other flavor of the month format processors is the easier way to go?

650s are cheap enough now used (although no longer dirt cheap/free), something more modern for the master might be a little spendy.

I`m a private collector of 35/70mm projectors and films with a private cinema.
(2x 35mm Bauer B12 projectors with Kineton ST200 platter in use.)
I always wanted a CP500 from the moment I saw it when it came out in the 90`s, so I changed the CP200 out and installed the CP500 a few years ago.
Then later I bought a collection with a lot of 35mm 4 track mag prints and it turned out that the CP500 is not ideal for me to play DTS and also play mag while the CP200 is very flexibel in that regard.
So I want to use the CP200 again but I was wondering what the best way was to connect XD10/DA20/CP200 combo.
