After the CinemaExpo in Amsterday there has been
words around that Osram has come up with a new
4.2kWatt xenonbulb with a light output equal to
a 6 kWatt lamp. Can anyone confirm this?

Isn't this a lamp with a shorter arc gap (smaller plasma ball) that can be focused more efficiently with reflectors specifically designed to use it?

What would the expected life of this new bulb be? Are we talking similar to a 4K, or closer to a 6K?

Not sure about the Osram, but Strong has a shortened gap bulb witht he same specs. The rated life is 700 hours. I have been using them for about two months and they do give out bright light, but it is more of a blue light that is noticable while the movie is running. very annoying.
