Author Topic: West 23rd Attack Sean McKinnon Phenomenal Film Handler Posts: 1712 From: Peabody Massachusetts Registered: Sep 2000 posted 09-19-2016 05:23 PM                        As the former Assistant Technical Director of the SVA Theatre on West 23rd Between 8th and 9th Ave. I want to send the staff, students, and faculty my thoughts and best wishes after the terrible and horrific events a block or so away. In this business, we are basically a soft target and always will be. Our customers come to our theatres because they need an evening to let their hair down and relax, and so putting up airport-style security at the entrance to our buildings simply isn't an option, either practically or ideologically. More to the point, the further we drift in that direction, the more the terrorists have won. My thoughts are very much with those who were hurt in the attacks over the weekend, and with those whose lives and businesses were disrupted. The best way we can minimize the number of others who have to go through anything similar is for - in terms of our collective fear, at any rate - last weekend's news becoming next weekend's ancient history.  |  IP: Logged
