Have we seriously reached the point of adapting corporate-sponsored public events onto film?

Scott Glassgold and Raymond Brothers are developing a film based around the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade says The Hollywood Reporter.

The producers are currently meeting with writers to develop the concept for this project which they describe as a "four-quadrant, family-friendly film" along "Night at the Museum" and "Elf" lines.

Storyboard artist Joel Venti has come up with some illustrations to present to Macy's which they approved of. One potential concept is that the giant floats in the parade come to life.

This isn't surprising.

Disney is also making a movie out of another theme park ride -- "Jungle Cruise." The difference there is, they've got a real good actor assigned to the project: Tom Hanks. So it could actually not suck.

The Stay-Puft-Marshmallow-Man was funny the first time in Ghostbusters, but will not be funny a second time.
