Yes, it's true. Apparently "digital" is not the new buzzword anymore, "3-D" is.

Do I have to wear polarized glasses when I brush my teeth in order to see the 3D effect? I can't tell from the packaging.

It's about time. First it evolved into color and now finally into 3D. Soon all toothpaste will be in 3D.

Well, at least "digital" isn't as much of a buzzword, even if 3D is even dumber.

Maybe "3D" stands for something else, at least officially, with the toothpaste?

I remember, don't know if it is still made, as I shoot pro film now, when Kodak came out with "HD 400" film.

Since when *wasn't* film an HD product, maybe in the 1910s, or 1920s?

A couple of years ago I was in Egypt and had to buy some underwear (don't ask). The 2 local techs took me to a "superstore" which looked like Walmart. We were standing in front of the underwear display and they were trying to figure out what I wanted. They were opening boxes and showing me and arguing back and forth in Arabic. I was just standing back (still buzzing from my trip), and wishing someone had a video camera to tape this [Big Grin] . Then I saw it, right in front of me, a pack of underwear which the writing on it was all Arabic except for 1 word. In bold print "DIGITAL" in english. Now the most comfortable underwear I wear is 100% Egyptian Cotton "DIGITAL" [Smile]

I remember when we bought our house - the real estate agent showing the house made note to show us the new DIGITAL water heater. [Roll Eyes] I was thinking it would have a digtal LED or LCD temperature control, but no - it just had a sticker on it that said "DIGITAL".

Nothing really special about it. It still runs out of hot water after two people take a shower, just like the one at our old house.

You can only have HD display if you are comparing an image to something else that has lower definition. So until possibly the 50s when TV became a viable display, only then could film be called High Definition because it could be compared to TV. Without a competing lower definition display system, film was THE definition, period.

Umm, thanks for the technical explanation, Frank [Big Grin]

Seriously, though, if they wanted "high definition" films they'd be selling 100-speed in the stores still.

Idiots see these bigger and bigger numbers for film speeds and think they are better.

And yeah "digital" bothers me too. "Digital display" "Digital sound".

For me digital means easier to use but usually at the cost of precision and quality.

This may signal the end of 3D (again), when that term is being over used for stupid stuff like toothpaste.
