It took me awhile but I had finally managed to download all of my CDs into my iPod classic and now can take my music everywhere. So far I had downloaded all of Mozart complete piano sonatas and concertos, more than half of his symphonies and good percentage of his other music including operas. When it comes to Beethoven, I downloaded all of his piano sonatas, his five piano concertoes, his nine symphonies, his only opera, FIDELIO as well as tons of his other music. I now have all of Braham's, Mendelssohn, Sibelius,Tchaikovsky, Dvorak and Schumann symphonies on the portable device as well as forty complete operas including Berlioz's LES TROYENS" and Wagner's RING operas conducted by Georg Solti. I also have a large selection of other classical music by other composers I had downloaded beside a large segment of New Age and popular music. In addition to a lot of movie soundtracks I have at least ten deluxe Broadway show albums dowloaded including THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, LES MISSERABLES, EVITA, SOUTH PACIFIC, KING & I, OKLAHOMA, SOUND OF MUSIC ----

I could keep on going listing all the music I have on my iPod but I think I had made my point regarding the amazing 124 gb storage capabilities of the iPod Classic. So far I have only used half of the storage allotment and still have about 65gb of available space. It is too bad the size of the screen on the Classic is not as large as my iPod Touch because I really would like to download some movies on it to use up the available space. It is unfortunate I no longer travel as much as I used to and remember the agonizing decision what music I should take with me when I traveled and the CDs, tapes and Mini Discs were a hassle not to mention the bulky players. The trip to London early last year was wonderful especially when I took my iPod Touch with me to listen to music on the long trip but it only had 16gb of storage space but it provided me with more than enough music for the entire trip. What makes the iPod Classic and the iPod Touch a joy is the pair of noise canceling Shure headset I use which is a hell of a lot better than the Bose which I had before switching to the Shure. Unlike the Bose, the Shure has excellent tonal range and I consider it the best pair pf headsets I ever used and I love it!

Brad,

I would have loved to get a iPhone but unfortunately it is only available to AT&T clients. I use T MOBILE and have an excellent plan that includes unlimited minutes for $59.95 and I love their service. In place of the iPhone, I got the next best thing, the iPod Touch early last year before I went to London.

This thread however is not about cel phones but music storage system and I still consider the iPod Classic amazing.

Claude, Brad's link is to a comedy page. It's pretty funny, but only if you are hip enough. [Big Grin]
