IME says that Universal acquired the rights to the old video game "Asteroids." Lorenzo di Bonaventura is going to produce.

Those are some bare bones to hang a story on!

Captain Smith has a mission: Turn big rocks into medium size ones, then mediums into smalls, then blow up the smalls, which will disappear. Suddenly, an alien ship arrives but can't hit the broad side of a barn, so Cap'n Smith vanquishes it with ease (that'd be your big opening battle scene). BUT WAIT! Now there's a tiny ship piloted by a marksman from the planet XeTron and he can actually aim! He blows up the Captain's ship.

But wait! He's not really dead! He comes back to life with a new ship. Suddenly, another alien ship arrives that can't hit the broad side of......

What!

As rumours go and there have been many of them...supposedly Peter Jackson is having trouble getting his Halo movie project to be accepted because distributors fear it wouldn't make any money.....HELLO!!!!

Peter have you tried Universal....rumour has it they just bought the rights to Asteroids.....WOOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!! like that's going to make the money that a Halo movie will make.

Warner Bros should one-up Universal and buy the rights to Asteroids Deluxe and turn the Wachowski Brothers loose on it.

They need to make a movie adaptation of Pong and then follow up that feature with the Pong in Prison saga, Breakout!

Who has the chops to direct those two movies? John Woo? McG? Nope. Brett Ratner!

How about Pac-Man? Imagine the chase scenes!

Although the best video game movie has yet to be made: Defender.

Wasn't Defender's sequel called "Stargate"?

Hasn't there been like 53 television series called "Stargate"?

Actually I thought there was some sort of copyright violation problem with Williams Electronics using the "Stargate" term, which is why later versions were called "Defender II."
