John Broumas owned the Showcase Theatre chain in the Washington, DC metro area in the 1960s and early 70s. Never popular with the IA because he employed non-union operators, he built many of the shopping center theatres that were popular in the area back then. Using a package deal from Ballantyne, installations were often equipped with Norelco AA-IIs, Strong Futura lamps and Altec sound. Mr. Broumas was 89 years old. His obit was in today's (July 23) Washington Post.
