Thank you, John, for everything you've done for all of us.

In the past few days, Brad sent out an e-mail to all Film-Tech members, and we solicited words and pictures as part of a community response (also from some cinematography forums where John has held a similar role). We got over 200 responses!

I assembled them into a collage (actually 3 of them! 30"x40" mounted posters) and shipped them off to John's residence yesterday. They were delivered this morning at 10:16am, Eastern.

Here is a PDF file of the collage (2mb).

Thanks to everyone, thank you to John. Our best wishes are with you and your family.

A lot of people don't believe it's possible to love someone without having met them in person. This project, as well as the other best-wishes thread, proves that John is well-loved by this community even though most of us haven't had the pleasure of shaking hands with him.

Nice work, jhawk, and thanks to Brad for facilitating it.

The outpouring of support from my friends here on Film-Tech and the other groups has been very heartwarming. When that large package was delivered by DHL this morning, I had no idea what it was. When I opened it and read the many warm sentiments and memories so many people had, it really made me realize again that we have formed some real friendships here on Film-Tech, whether in-person or virtual. The other thing that really struck me was the worldwide nature of the responses -- we share a common love of the cinema experience, and a common humanity when one of us is going through tough times.

I called JHawk to thank him in person, and want to repeat that thanks here in writing. To everyone who sent good wishes for his wonderful effort, or who has posted them here already, I want to thank you too. Your care and support has been amazing, and brings joy to me and my family. [thumbsup]

jhawk,

Thank you for taking the time in creating this poster to help all of us express our feelings toward this great man in our presence.

Thanks also to Brad for the generous funding of this idea and this forum. What a wonderful place this is!

Thanks to both of you.

KEN
