This is some pretty shocking and tragic news. Richard Jeni died of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was still alive when medical personnel found him, but he died later at a hospital.

I really enjoyed Jeni's stand up work. The guy did a number of HBO specials and appeared numerous times to all the big talk shows. He was in a number of movies, including The Mask.

That's really interesting. For some reason I remember his show called "Platypus Man" since I would record shows on Fox (Married with Children most likely) and the opening of that show would always be on the end of my tape.

Oh no...I was just thinking about him about a month ago, while I spent a week in FLA...I saw signs promoting a stand-up series of shows he was to have at Universal Studios or somesuch place in the Orlando area. I thought, too bad, I was going to miss him... [Frown]
