For some time now, I have been trying to get into the training program to be a journeyman, and just this past week I was acccepted. For three years, I'll be an apprentice to a real journeyman for low voltage, voice-data-video work. I'm terribly excited because this is going to be the first real job with good pay and benefits I've ever had. Will it be hard work? Sure, but I'm ready for it. Anyone else ever been down this path with the journeymen and the IBEW?

Good for you! Many years ago I organized a small company (with their assistance) and was going to be given a card like yours. However, it occurred to me that there would be no Journeyman at our company and I did not want to be potentially "bumped."

The Union spotted me a 10 year Journeyman card for organizing that company. All was well. That was the only union I ever joined except IATSE. Louis

Congratulations Aaron! [thumbsup] [beer] [Martini]

Can't give you any advice that you don't already know. No experience with IBEW other than knowing quite a few members - like Louis I was IATSE but never had to go through a formal apprenticeship. Sounds like you're approaching it with the right attitude though! Have fun and best wishes!

[thumbsup] Way to go, guy! Never appenticed here, either, Paul. IA journeyman at age 18. Everybody already knew me from the drive-ins when I was 12.

Louis, I had no idea you carried an IBEW card...

Btw, Aaron... don't spend it all in one place! [Wink]
