I suspect that if anybody knows the answers to this, or where to find out, it will probably be Leo, but if anybody else happens to know I'd be glad to hear from them.

This film was made by the BBC in the late '50s, or very early '60s. It was produced by Denis Mitchell. I can find a few references to it on the web, but not much. Does anybody know the locations used in this film, and whether it is available in any form? I suspect that it still exists, because a brief extract was shown in a BBC programme maybe ten years ago, which would have been after the era of mass dumpings of old material.

Years and years ago (i.e. late-90s) I spoke on a conference panel with someone whose presentation was about Mitchell. If my memory serves me correctly, he showed a clip on VHS from the programme you're talking about: if so, that would suggest that it does survive.

I'll try and dig out my notes to see if I can find his name.

Dick, thank you for your e-mail. The address it was sent from isn't a NMSI one, and doesn't look like a personal one, so I can't reply to you using it.
