This is for people who do not work in the film industry to let everyone know where you work.

I work in customer service for a company called WhiteFence
WhiteFence is an on-line utilities service which allows residents across the U.S. to set up their utilities on-line rather than having to call up each provider individually and wait on hold to place their orders.

I work in customer service helping people out with problems with the site (mostly resetting their passwords that the have forgotten).

My day job is at a Carquest auto parts store where I am a combination office manager and (when needed) counterperson. Basically I do what needs doing. It's a family business, we've had it for over 40 years. My dad is the best parts man in this state, if not the country.

We also have a music department where we sell car stereo, CDs and accessories.

I teach and tutor part-time at Community College of Southern Nevada. This will be my fourth semester teaching various courses in the school's A.A.S. Aviation Technology degree program. Previously I taught Beginning Conversational Japanese for four semesters in the International Languages Department. I continue to tutor first- and second-year Japanese language students whenever requested.

If I'm not wrestling one of the projectors at my theater, I work at a mom and pop indie record/cd store. I've worked there for almost 6 years now and love it (minus some of the customers). Nothing like getting free movies and music! If you need to know anything about music, I can probably answer it. [Smile]

I work for Croydon College as an I.T. Technician. I've been there for fifteen years this month. Until about a year ago I looked after the curriculum network along with three others, two of whom had served longer than me. Due to a restructurng of our department I now have a new job title, I'm now supposed to call myself a Network Analyst, which is silly, because my job doesn't involve analysing networks. I still work in a team of four, but dfferent people; the people I worked with previously now operate the helpdesk, while I am part of the network team, hidden away out of sight. There are about 16 people in our department; the exact number depends on who you include. We look after about 2000 computers, thirty something servers, several hundred printers, and various other odds and ends.

Before that I worked as an audio-visual technician for another fifteen years.

I've done occasional projection work at various places, most recently here

I can verify Professor Paul's post. He invited me to guest-lecture at one of his classes a couple of years ago. I presented a PowerPoint presentation with slides and 16mm films on the finer points of oral sex. I mean, the class description said it was an oral speech class... how was I to know?

He's not invited me back since.

I do system and network administration for a small software company. We have about fifty users and a wide range of hardware and software platforms (Sun, HP, SGI, AIX, Win32). It's a fun job and the company has a successful niche product. I've done the same sort of work with several other companies in the networking business, most of which are now (in some cases deservedly) defunct. Such is life.

Film stuff is a hobby for me. I usually end up doing 1-2 shows per month. I usually get the sort of jobs that no one else wants--one-off shows in unusual venues. For the most part, I don't actively seek out the work--it usually seems to find me. In general, it works out nicely and the films are generally interesting.

During the day, I'm the senior network engineer at Brandywine Senior Care. We're a chain of nursing homes and assisted living facilities. With 20 sites on a wide area network with two Internet connections - one in PA and one in NJ, we're pretty advanced technologically for our industry. We run mostly Novell and Linux stuff for our network.

Part of my responsibilities includes designing web based applications, which makes my job really interesting. Our latest project was to design a site where our nurses could login from home and bid on shifts at our various facilities. It works a lot like ebay, and we've built it completely from scratch. It's a lot of fun, and quite challenging.

Oh, and I have a pretty nice office too. [Cool]

I work at Lund Food Holding, the parent company of Byerlys and Lunds grocery stores. www.byerlys.com

Our facility is currently changing in the direction of becoming a national vendor. In the future some of you may see our "famous" wild rice soup, or apple pies on your store shelves.

I work in the maintenance department, which some days is just about as much fun as you can have wearing a hair-net.

In the future I would like own a movie theater as a hobby/job.

I gave up the night life of movie theater in exchange for working for a LARGE MULTINATIONAL MULTIBILLION DOLLAR company.

Company policy prevents me from discussing publicly who I work for, however it would be safe to say that most people know who the hell it is. They just don't want people out there speaking thier mind as if that is what our LARGE MULTINATIONAL MULTIBILLION DOLLAR company stands for.

While our company deals mostly in plastic, we also move large amounts of cash around the world, and you would never want to leave home without it.

I spend my days there deciding who gets what we have and who doesn't. It requires a great amount of analytical thought process and pretty good judgement. One slip and someone gets out the door with 50 grand and it's hanging time around the office.

I love it, but would rather run my own theater. Maybe some day, but for now I must work days so I can be there for my daughter.

Ciao baby

Dave

Working at Rent-A-Center for nearly 2 years now. I'm an accounts manager. If you rent it, and dont pay for it, I will be visiting you. Thats a promise.

I've not had time to run any film, except at Halloween, in almost a year. I dont like that.
