Since no one else seems to have the guts to bring up this topic, I'll do it. I'm a filthy minded bachelor anyway! Just a fair warning, there is a little "clinical" description happening in this post.

I just have to laugh at the press in how they're covering this developing news story. For those who haven't heard, much of the porn industry operating in California is voluntarily shutting down until summer after news that two performers tested positive for HIV. Yesterday, a third performer had a positive HIV test.

The press is pretending to be shocked about the situation. The question I have screaming in my head is, "only three?" Is that all? Further, why isn't anyone saying anything about the rate of herpes infection or hepatitis C in the industry? I really have to wonder. Let's face it. Porn today is quite a bit more rough and extreme than the "classic" stuff of decades past where women actually let their pubic hair grow.

I joked with one of my co-workers that perhaps the lady who got infected did some extreme double entry scene. Sadly, it turns out my joke may have been a good guess. Lara Roxx (stage name) probably contracted the virus from "actor" Darren James during a double anal scene. James had been in Brazil and did some unprotected work down there. He was first to test positive. The various 'blogs kinda suggest he may have known about his status even before doing the D.A. scene with Roxx.

<personal opinion rant>

What the hell is going on with porn these days? Why does it have to be so vicious? I just don't understand it. You have guys choking the hell out of women as they pound away. I'm sure hepatitis C can spread pretty well when a lady has to perform oral sex on a penis that was just taken out of another woman's rectum. Sorry. Ass is just ass. It ain't ever going to be clean enough to eat! Oh, and the guy isn't just letting the lady go down on him. No. He has to grab her head and try to thrust his dick out the back of her neck. Geez! What the hell is next? Hook the lady's genitals up to a car battery? This is not romantic at all. IMHO, it's downright psychopathic.

With all the shocking acts being videotaped in adult movies these days, I'm surprised most of the actors are not crawling with all kinds of creepy shit. The news says Lara Roxx tested positive for HIV. They don't say she developed a bad rash on her ass one day after her D.A. scene and turned up positive for genital warts and bacterial vaginosis!

Being single, I'm scared as hell of coming down with any of the smorgasboard of STDs in circulation these days. The only thing the stupid news people talk about is HIV. Hepatitis C can fry your liver and kill you just as dead! And it is more common than HIV! I'm scared of catching those things and I'm not doing the extreme things to women they're showing in those videos. The rascal is wrapped and she's the boss when we play!

What happened to making a porn flick where both performers at least looked like they were having a good time? Granted, porn has never really been plausible for representing real sex. It is just short-attention-span, goal-oriented stuff only leading up to a "money shot."

Unfortunately, "realistic sex" doesn't exactly have cinematic quality. You have all that talking and non-sexual affection happening. That may lead to some flirting, innuedno, foreplay, etc. The actual act itself may just be plain vanilla missionary stuff. And there's no money shot at the end. Just a lot of cuddling while you try to not fall asleep too fast. Really, exactly how many guys can get away with ejaculating into a woman's eyeball and mouth without her immediately searching for a gun afterward?

</personal opinion rant>

California's health department is threatening to mandate condom use for the state's porn industry. The video makers (I refuse to call them "filmmakers" when nearly all their product is videotaped) are complaining that condom use may drive much of the industry underground. I'm really not sure I agree with that at all. Maybe they're just complaining because a condom isn't going to make it through a punishing double anal scene.

A couple of my platonic female friends are not bashful about enjoying a good porn flick. But they tend to buy a lot of that Adam and Eve stuff, where condom use is a pretty common thing. The DVDs they buy typically show the women having much more control in the scene. There's not much of that rough stuff. I would venture the guess the porn industry's business might actually improve if they do more to market to women. Right now most porn videos seem only to be marketed to men who aren't getting laid much and have a hatred of women. What other conclusion could you draw with the choking stunts and speculum antics? That's not the kind of shit that going to get a woman aroused.

I am so jaded that I don't rent any regular porn. I can get amateur porn on the internet for free anyway. But I think the reason they have them have rough sex is people are jaded and need more to stimulate themselves. Mainstream movies are crossing the boundaries at times. So porn has to go one step further I guess. I just wish they would stop encouraging women to get horrible oversized implants.

What puzzles me is why there isn't more of a disease scare among all the hair band members and their groupies in the 80s. You don't hear of anyone getting AIDS. They led a pretty high risk life. I wonder if most celebs have herpes when it is so high in the general population. I am so lucky I am clean on this. And I intend to stay that way.

Anyone wanting to know the real news (more detailed and graphic than regular news sources) can visit www.avn.com . There's a hilarious interview with the first girl (I think) where she says she thought porn people were clean, etc.

Well the US porn industry apparantly required that their 'actors' be tested every two weeks for various STD's-that's how they found out in the first place that there was a problem.

Yep, I read the AVN interview before making the first post. It was kind of funny how naiive the Canadian girl was in thinking porn people were "clean." I think I laughed more (in a "well, that figures" way) when the article described her ass rash and diagnosis of genital warts for the first medical visit. Honestly, I think a lot of the women who get into porn (or even stripping) just gravitate toward very stupid situations from being turned on by the danger of it. It's so sexy to them to be around not-so-nice men, "nice guys are pussies."

Sure, the porn industry may test people one or twice a month. But a lot of that really doesn't matter. How many sexual partners does a man or woman typically have before entering the porn industry. Many of the women are strippers moving up into the business. Here in Oklahoma, it is common for a stripper to be addicted to crystal meth and doing prostitution on the side. Real safe lifestyle. I highly doubt the porn industry is recruiting lots of clean "girl next door" types.

That's not to say average single people are "clean" either. You know the old comedy joke. When a lady tells you how many lovers she's had, you multiply that figure by ten. At least that can hold true here.

It's not the main reason, but one of the reasons I donate blood on a regular basis is all the free testing they do -which includes various tests for STDs. One would figure a blood donation card might make you a little more attractive, "hey ladies, I'm clean and safe!" Bah. Who wants that? It's more of a turn on to play sexual roulettte, spin the wheel and see what disease you get or manage not to get.

I also donate blood regularly, for the reason you stated of continual free testing. I am clean as a clean whistle, not like one of those dirty whistles that people use.

A friend of mine recently found out he has hepetitus-c, after donating blood plasma for the first time. He of course owns up to ABSOLUTELY NO behavior that would have contracted it, but we all know his secret lifestyle and he knows we all know but he still maintains it to this point. I mean really, time to own up doofus!

I did spend several years of my life having hoards of unprotected sex, and have somehow managed to avoid all contagion. In my older years now, I also keep the little guy wrapped up on the odd occasion he gets to go outside and play. No viruses getting on board here.

Ciao

Dave

Hepatitis C is very contagious and very common. Even famous people like Pamela Anderson have it. She thinks her disease may kill her in as soon as 10 years.

It angers me that more is not done to educate people about the consequences of this disease and how easy it is to get it. It is totally irresponsible of the porn industry to have such a fixation on taping anal sex scenes with how widespread hepatitis C has become in the general population. Anal sex is a pretty risky activity. So when the news reports only three people in that industry have tested positive so far, I really have to question that "only" part.

I'm really surprised a far greater percentage has not tested positive for HIV, as well as hepatitis C, herpes and other diseases. Do they think only gay men can contract HIV from having unprotected anal sex? An ass has the same contents, functions and possible infections regardless of gender! The people running the porn industry need to pull their heads out of their own asses and realize this. They also need to realize a fair percentage of our dumb population will try to act out stuff they see in a porno movie. In that regard, I think they need to develop more positive, fun, friendlier content in their videos. How are the marketing to with all the choking, double anal, ass-to-mouth fetish stunts? Limp dick, white trash, steriod abusers who watch extreme bare-fisted fights on pay per view? That's what I suspect. Very angry stuff happening. Not arousing at all. And those kinds of videos would not be something I would watch with a girlfriend.

I find this whole "news story" really stupid! There are just as many (and probably a greater percentage) of **STUPID** non-porn "people" having unprotected sex and contracting STDs and becoming HIV+. They ALL think it can't happen to them.

I agree HEP C is a real risk and soooo many people are really naive about it's dangers and transmission paths.

It's getting so that ya can't even get/give a BJ without wearing a condom. Oh...and don't forget those dental dams for eating/rimming!
