I realize that at my age I've went through quite a few cars. My first car was a '99 Pontiac Grand AM, after about 6 months my parents wanted me to get a better car... So I got a '98 Honda Accord... After about a week my dad really wanted that car so I got my parents' new '01 Ford Escape... Then about a 6 months later my parents didn't trust me with the Escape so they gave me the '97 Nissan Altima. And about six months ago I begged for the Honda back and I got it... Now after an excuse I made up, saying I needed a bigger car so I can be able to take all my stuff as I move to Arizona, I get the '01 Escape back. (I'm 19)

How many cars have you had?

Age = 12

First car was a 1984 Ford Tempo (automatic). I got it for free from my grandmother, and I just paid for new registration and crap like that. What a piece of crap! Then I started dating a girl who also had a 1984 Ford Tempo. This and especially the fact that the Tempo sucked prompted me to get a used 1984 Honda Prelude (manual transmission). This was a damn fine car, especially for its age. Then that same girl decided she needed a 1984 Honda Prelude as well. I don't date her anymore. About 6 or 7 months ago I went and bought a brand new 2003 Honda Civic EX (manual transmission... you won't catch me driving an auto ever again!). I almost bought the car outright, but I was a little shy. But at least my monthly payments are super low. This car rocks so far. It gets like 400 miles per gallon and pretty fast to boot! Also I can add a racing stripe, spoiler, and neon lights to make it even more faster! Actually my Honda Civic is probably one of the few that won't get riced up. The only modification I made was to remove the included CD player and install a MiniDisc player in the dash (it's lighter than the CD player, so the car goes faster).

Age: 27

1985 Pontiac station wagon
1988 Buick Lesabre sedan
1990 Volvo 740 station wagon
1996 Volvo 850 station wagon (current)

I've been very happy with Volvos and bought my current one almost a year ago. Station wagons aren't exactly "chick magnet" vehicles, but they're useful for hauling stuff without having to drive a truck or van around all the time.

*=vehicles I still own

1960 Ford F-100 pickup, 223 6-cylinder, ran great with zero oil pressure. They don't make 'em like this anymore.

1964 Dodge D-100 Sweptline pickup 318 V8 and granny 4-speed. only 2WD but could pull stuck 4x4s outa anything [Smile]

1972 Plymouth Satellite 318 V8, first thing I had that had a back seat in it [Wink]

1985 Honda NC50 (motor scooter) Got me around town in the short time I was car-less

1988 Pontiac Sunbird* (first car I ever bought new) 225K miles and still runs great!

1973 VW Type II (Bus) I would still own this if they had changed the CA smog laws 6 months earlier [Mad]

1981 VW Scirocco My all time favorite non-V8 car I have owned. I'd buy another if I could find one in good enough shape and cheap...

1984 Mitsubishi SPX 4X4 pickup Just sold this on Ebay for $107 (engine was shot)

1986 Isuzu Trooper II 4X4*

1985 Ford Ranger XLS pickup* Currently sitting in the middle of the field in back of my place awaiting some fuel injection work

and the technicality:

1970 Dodge Polara wagon, 383 V8 (I held the title on this for a short time before it went into service as a Demolition Derby car in 1986 and 87 (it survived four derbies before retiring to the scrapyard) You can see the '64 Dodge listed above in the background... [Smile]
