Some of you may have heard about this: the British press has been banned by a court from reporting allegations by one of his servants which could apparently bring down the monarchy. These are already in the public domain, however, as British courts can't do anything about foreign websites. So far the only newspaper (that I know of) to have carried the story in any detail is Italy's La Repubblica: it can be found here.

The trouble is that my Italian isn't up to much. Can any Italian-speaking Film-Techers help out here? If I understand this correctly then, (i) he shagged his butler, (ii) the butler now wants to make lots of money out the 'experience', and (iii) The Queen is mightily off-pissed that he's got himself into hot water again. Am I on the right track? If so there really doesn't seem to be much of a story to me... anyone who would dump Princess Di for Camilla Porker-Bowels clearly has somewhat unusual tastes!

Bable Fish's crack at translating it:

(broken into paragraphs randomly for your reading ease)

quote:
A doubt shakes England "prince Carl is bisexual" The heir to the ready throne to defend with an interview tv from ours correspondent ENRICO FRANCESCHINI Carl d' England LONDON - he could not it are to us a return to house worse for prince Carl, re-entered in native land after two weeks in India and Middle East. "Carl is bisexual", question News of the World, with 4 the million copies the most diffused daily domenicale of the Reign, blinking therefore in first page the substance - even if not particular, still censured from injunction a judicial one - of the presumed episode of sexual nature between the heir to the throne and its butler.

The worse one for the prince is that the question mark on its sexual habits is not born spontaneously from the spudorato one tabloid, but from ennesima the detection: yesterday press of the real house has been known that, some day or they are, the personal secretary of Carl, sir Michael Peat, formulated an analogous question to Mark Bollard, former-assigned, chiedendogli if it believed that Carl was "bisexual".

Little it imports that Bollard, which has reported the conversation to the newspaper, has answered negatively. Those that he counts is that by now not even its secretary, $R-he who Carl has sended in tivù to refute the maldicenze on just the account, seems sure that the prince says the truth. And if of Carl Peat, an aristocrat doubts sir who works from a life for the Windsor, can be imagined as they see its sudditi ones to it.

The doubt of the secretary on the "bisexuality" of the prince is brought back from the entire British press, while on situated the Internet they circulate elaborated reconstructions on who made what who, in the bed shared from Carl and the valletto. Insomma, than around the heir of Queen Elisabetta is infuriating a sex scandal, by now in Great Britain must have understood it all, although the prohibition of the magistracy to the publication of the particular.

A prohibition that for according to consecutive day has convinced the agency of distribution of foreign newspapers to London to block (and to send to I macerate like a dangerous drug) all the copies of Republic, Courier, Press and Newspaper, plus a sure number of Spanish daily paper. The reason is always the same one: it does not have to arrive in the Reign, no language, the news that Carl could have gone to bed with the butler. Us it can be alluded. It can be made to understand.

But it cannot be said or be written openly. - Publicity - The fundamental point, for the average English, more does not seem however to be if Carl is etero, omo or bisex, if Buckingham Palace less tries or than imbavagliare the press, if it is true - as filler the Mail - than the witness key of the entire vicissitude, former-valletto of court George Smith, has been threatened from an armed and masked man that it has intimato to it "to close the mouth". The point is that I accumulate it of gaffes, arrogance and controversies around to the prince have assumed indefensible proportions: a heir who, after the divorce and the dead women of Diana, seemed inadequate to the throne, today appears more and more improponibile. "Once he seemed an eccentric, hour is a pathetic figure", writes the Independent, "the last one not to understand that it will not be able to become king".

It for the moment does not surrender: palace sources say that it is meditating a counter-offensive, that it could cite in judgment valletto or newspapers, to rilasciare one frank television interview on the style of that famous one of Diana, to send in field the William son to defend it. All it is possible. But while the destiny has intentional that Carl, still in travel, was the great absent yesterday morning from the mesta ceremony with which the Queen and the real family they have celebrated to Whitehall, in directed tivù, under one icy little rain, the day of the fallen. And it can be bet that the Windsor has not felt its lack.

HAHAHA -- What would we do without Babble Fish?

Carl -- It's okay. Really.

Think about it, though. It makes perfect sense. I mean, the man is gonna be Queen someday...
