Rated R -- not for the youngins

The local CBS affiliate (KLAS channel 8) aired the story last week. Apparently the latest thing in adult entertainment, "Hunting for Bambi" recently opened here and has started to attract high-roller tourists who pay thousands of dollars to "hunt" naked women with paint ball guns.

Ah well, it's not like we were ever known for our political correctness around here. [Wink]

Oh, that's funny! [Razz] What a great way to satisfy primal urges?! Paul, I'm sure the PC won't be upset about the naked women half as much as they will the guns!

Be sure to play the linked video, which not only explains and films the "game" but includes analyses by psychiatrists who caution that such fantasy games can lead those attracted to its sadistic "sport" to continue their violent tendencies in other aspects of life.

Another troubling aspect is the large number of calls from women willing to be targets, despite the fact that they are not permitted to wear protection, and the paint projectiles, with a velocity of 200mph can draw blood and cause injuries. Although the shooters are asked not to aim above the neck, some do not observe the rules. In the Nevda Desert, it seems Sadists and Masochists rule! [While a good-old-American-entrepreneur collects the cash.]

Snopes is currently investigating this one, and so far all the tell-tale signs of a hoax are evident:

-no business address or telephone numbers; the only contact information is an email address

-Email inquiries into joining one of the aforementioned 'hunts' have gone unanswered

-If this were real the multi-million dollar lawsuits would have been rolling in from day one

-The footage shown on the news was likely staged (you can supposedly buy the DVD/VHS videos on their site) for the media

Definitely sounds like a hoax to me...

The person(s) responsible definitely got many in radio and TV talking about it (free publicity and perpetuation of the hoax)

Click here and decide for yourself.

To me, it looks like nothing more than a cheesey scheme to sell porno videos under the guise of selling "safari outings" to rich idiots.

Yes, they could simply sell the videos but they would have little "credibility" (if that's what you'd call it.) unless there was some idea in the mind of the buyer of the video that, somehow, they could hunt for naked women with paintball guns too, no matter how remote the possibility really is.

Think about it this way: If you buy a porno mag... Playboy, Penthouse, Playgirl (for women) or what have you... as one looks at the pictures one imagines that the naked person in the pictures is REALLY out there somewhere. If only you could meet the person and get that "lucky break" you could have your chance to get him/her into the sack with you. The person with even an ounce of sense in their head knows it's a one in a kazillion shot but there's "always a chance". It's a lot like those people who habitually play the lottery and enter the Publisher's Clearing House Sweepstakes. They are dreamers.

Well, how about the (loser) guy who dreams that he, too, could get his chance to go out in the desert and wail away at some naked chick? Yeah, he could simply buy a video and get his jollies but if he can somehow embellish his fantasy with the idea that, if only he had enough money, he could do it too. It's great "whank-off material" if you are sick-o enough to get your rocks off like that.

To further embellish the fantasy, they say it all happens in Las Vegas. Where else? What other city in the world has the reputation that anything is legal as long as you go through "the union"? [Wink] ...And if you have enough money. [Wink]

I fail to see why yous are all getting your panties in a knot over this.

The women get great money and even more big bucks if they manage to not get hit. There is NO ONE making them do this.

If ya don't agree or like it, go elsewhere. No one is forcing YOU to participate in the play.

There is NOTHING wrong with this! GEEEZZE!

As for "Hunting for Bambi" being some sort of fake, all I can say is Channel 8 did indeed shoot their own footage for the story--they did not use any footage supplied by the Bambi people.

The Bambi website is set up to take deposits on signups for "hunts" but I doubt they get any customers that way. Too easy to trace IDs. My guess is they ignore email inquiries regarding signups too, since at these prices 99% of the inquiries are bound to be from various fleas, wankers, and journalists--none of whom are likely to have enough money to be serious customers. I'm willing to bet that, like everything else of this nature available here, most of the customers are high-rollers referred by carefully recruited casino workers and limo drivers--and that they pay cash. It's a racket, just like any other here.

As for lawsuits I suppose that's possible, provided you could find someone here who gives enough of a shit to file. 'Vegas locals are famous for being apathetic about everything--nothing much impresses or fazes us. Besides, most people here are too damn busy scrambling to make their next rent/drug/bookie payment to bother worrying about something like Bambi, and Nevadans in general don't like to stick their noses in other people's business. Plus most of us do get a kick out of watching the reactions we get from our Sin City image. It's cheap local entertainment! [Big Grin]

I know this sounds silly, but for some reason I feel like calling the guy and insisting the girls wear eye protection. It's the only thing about it that bothers me! [Confused]

As soon as one of these women get blinded by an errant paintball, then we'll see the lawsuit. Even if she signed some kind of waiver, it could be argued that anybody willing to subject themselves to being such a target can't be in their right mind, voiding anything she signed.

It could launch a whole new asthetic in porno, catering to those who get off on blood blisters and welts.

Yes, it does involve consenting adults, but I wonder about the men who'd WANT to do this (although I'm sure about the self-image of the "Bambi's"). What I am sure about is that I wouldn't want to know any of these men.

The whole idea is really sick, very sad to say. This should not be allowed to go on.

For shame!

[thumbsdown] [Frown]

Consenting adults or not, this is disgusting and degrading to women. The "entertainment value" of treating women as prey escapes me. There's some really SICK minds out there.
