With yesterday's system failure, Brad and I have come up with an idea to cross-post server status between Film-Tech and Cinematour.

The sites are on separate servers in the same location. The only reasons that both sites should simultaneously fail would be:

  • both servers lose power
  • there is an upstream DNS failure
  • there is an upstream internet problem
  • the access line gets cut by construction crews again [Roll Eyes] .
So if you can't reach Cinematour, come here to check and see if something on our end is going on. If you can't reach Film-Tech, go to the Cinematour Forum and navigate to Cinematour Discussion. This topic will probably be made sticky so that it is always near the top of the list.

*Update* The issues we were having have been sorted out and everything is back up and running normally. [Smile]

Intermittent (the Cinematour, et al, server) will be down for most of the evening for backups and maintenance. Thanks for your patience. [Smile]

Update: All done!

Advance warning...

Tuesday, October 28th we will have approximately 1/2 hour of solid downtime at some point in the evening. This will affect all servers, but should not affect all of them at the same time. (Cinematour should be up when Film-Tech is down.)

Friday, October 31st we will have an unknown amount of downtime from noon to the evening hours for improvements. The site may be sporadically available for that timeframe. This will also affect all servers, but should not affect all of them at the same time.

Cinematour is down once again for further system upgrades.

Cinematour is running again, by the way.

The Film-Tech Forums will be taken down for maintenance tonight at 2am Central time. Estimated maintenance time is unknown, but will probably be a few hours.

All of the sites will be slow and intermittently unresponsive this evening while we perform maintenance. Hey ... we could've taken it completely down all night ...

Film-Tech Forums' email services are offline. This includes automatic notifications of posts to a thread and 'email through the board' functions. Private Messaging is available though.

All users with mail handled by film-tech.net will not be able to access their mail during this time. No mail has been lost and is being queued on our secondary MX servers.

For all others, feel free to send mail to any of the affected users. Your mail will be queued and delivered to its recipient as soon as possible.

Service should be restored within an hour (that's when the hockey game starts!).

All services are back up. They've actually been up for a while, but the (WCH) game just ended.

Well it's been 9 months, might as well do some maintenance.

The server will need to be taken offline around 11:30pm CST. Downtime could be up to three hours, but will likely be substantially shorter.

In case anyone is running a day behind, penthouse experienced some network connectivity issues Friday. Things seem to be somewhat back to normal.

Less info is available here:

Server response may be intermittently slow over the next few days while the continuous off-site backup process is prioritized.

Apparently there's a hurricane or something coming. Visit http://status.film-tech.net/ in the event of an outage for info.
