Hello everyone. This is the first time I've been able to post here. I've been meaning to get around to it, but I've been working 70 hour weeks trying to get my booth into shape at the theatre I just started in.

I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself before I get started with the subject (scroll to the bottom if you're not interested).

I've been employed for Cinemark U.S.A., Inc. for about a month now after my 4.5 years with Regal Cinemas, Inc. This Cinemark theatre is one of only two in Georgia and it is a sub-run theatre that does exceptional business. I truly enjoy working there, but the apathy of the previous and some of the current operators and managers truly baffles me. I love keeping the booth very clean and scratch free. 99% of the time my projectors are emulsion free and can stay that way for days, though I still clean them regularly.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know a little about me and to vent a little. It gets very frustrating sometimes. But, at least my new GM loves keeping the booth/theatre clean and understands the importance of a great presentation.

Now, on to the subject of the post (and even more venting). I had been trying to get enough free time to run Dolby tone and buzz track on my projectors, which I finally did and it made a huge difference. I then noticed that our D.T.S. unit on number 3 was not functioning (I hadn't been able to obtain any discs for the prints). I checked everything short of taking it apart and then noticed that the seal that the technician had placed on the unit had been broken [Frown] .

So, I took it out of the sound rack, thinking that maybe the IDE cable was unhooked. But, it wasn't.

I look over every inch of the motherboard and could find no visible problems. Then, after reading the manual, I noticed that the jumpers on the CD-ROMs were totally wrong. Now, WHY would someone ever change that!!?

This did end up being the problem all along and now it sounds GREAT!!!

Thanks for listening and I hope to contribute more to the forum in the futre if you all will have me.

Regards,

Bryan Kennedy.

Welcome, and where are your theater pictures? [Wink]

We have a thread "who the heck are you" in the Yak forum for introductions and backgrounds if you would like to copy this there. I am moving to Yak and closing so we do not end up having multiple threads on the same thing.
