I saw Brian DePalma’s Femme Fatale at Show East this year and didn’t like it much. I did like the 5-minute Victoria’s Secret ad in the middle.

Femme Fatale opened here at the Rialto on Wednesday. On Wednesday we had 68 people total or about 17 per show. On Thursday we had 53 people total for 13 per show.

This morning our paper published the Roger Ebert 4-star review of the film. You know how Roger likes the pretty girls. So this morning we had about 90 people show up or Femme Fatale. We had placed it in our smallest auditorium that seats about 80 and we had to turn about 30 people away. We’ll move the film.

Then several of our seniors left after the hot Girl on Girl action at the beginning of the film. What don’t these people actually read the reviews or do they just look at how many stars they receive? Sheep!

We have this movie and it is doing moderate business so far (Wednesday-Thursday anyway). I agree with Ian that it is not a particularly good movie. And the changeover cue placement (on screen) is bizarre! WTF?

I don't recall what was at the changeover between the last reel and the next-to-last reel, though. I dunno. There is just something about Rebecca Romain Staymose that I just don't like. She's not as great looking as people seem to think she is. Is she supposed to be hot because she smokes?

Joe, you hit the nail on the head. She's hot because she smokes and smoking is evil! Yeah. Us Americans make anything unsavory sexy. Even something as banal as smoking. I'm just waiting for the HBO documentary to develop about women writing love letters and marriage proposals to the DC area shooters. You know it will happen.

C'mon, Ian, you're not to blame. You have an "audience of sheep" because they're trained only to follow three magic words -- "Two Thumbs Up!"

Roger Ebert wasn't the only one to give Femme Fatale a good review. J. Hoberman of the Village Voice said it was good-if-flawed -- the review was the bottom of a 3-way this week. (Hoberman reviewed Far from Heaven first and 8 Mile second.)

"Two Thumbs Up"® is a registered trademark (no, really) of The Ebert Company, Ltd. and Siskel Productions, Ltd. Presumably Richard's thumb is operated under license.
