You know ME

And I know THIS GUY
I think Diablos Fan #3 and Two Beer Guy were made up by him and they posted it without checking into it, but he really was in those movies.

I suspect that there are a number of Film-Tech members who are in the IMDb for various reasons (dailies projection, special thanks to, etc.).

Further, I suspect that nearly all of us have, at one point, met various (semi-)well-known directors, other crew members, or stars at various festivals or screenings.

I do know (personally) a few of people in there, but only for "assistant to whomever" or some such. I also know a bunch of people who have done production work (mostly low-budget and/or documentary stuff) but, for whatever reason, aren't listed in the IMDb.

I went to high school with this guy and was friends with his brother (who was in my class) at the time. Apparently he made a short which was well received in various festivals this year, though I haven't seen it personally.

Yikes...I wanted to edit the prior post to add this but all the shiny buttons confoozed me.

Mike: Was your friend, Mark, the guy who advised the Auto Focus people about the video and film camera gear? If so he did a great job. I may have said this already elsewhere but it all seems correct except that I would guess that the introduction of color recording to the 1/2" open reel industrial/educational (EIAJ) VTR's *probably* predated the Advent Videobeam home video projector. Not that I can say for sure that Hogan was shot with BNC's (BNCR's?) and Super Dad with PSR's but it's certainly correct for the time.

I learned a heck of a lot from this Oscar-nominated fellow about 20 years ago. He was very gracious, and freely shared his knowledge and expertise with me for the several months that we were on a picture together.

Yes, predating the Advent Videobeam by about a decade! I remember the first Sony EIAJ color reel to reel in 1971 in High School.
Count me in too on IMDB. http://us.imdb.com/Name?Gulbrandsen,+Mark

HI Steve, no Mark didn't do that for the movie, but he owns the rights to John Carpenter's story (during the murder trial in 94, he was there every day, including the pre lim, for about 3 or 4 months I think it was), and he also advised on the script, etc. However from what he told me, they found some guy in either Tucson, AZ, or somewhere in Texas I believe, that collects old video equipment and has a museum of sorts. He said they were able to get the equipment working and actually taped scenes on the old cameras that are used in the movie (I haven't seen it yet). I have seen some clips of the videos from the 60s and they are pretty poor in quality, but amazing they have even survived this long.

When I lived in New York, I got to hang around this friend of my father's. He's a storyboard artist. http://us.imdb.com/Name?Crossley,+Keith

I tried to find a page on Dirck Halstead. But IMDB had nothing on him. He has done production still photography on a number of movies, such as "Cliffhanger". He took that black silhouetted photo of the guy holding the rope leaping away from the cliff. But here's a link to his website "The Digital Journalist" http://www.digitaljournalist.org/

And finally, there are various folks at School of Visual Arts in NYC who work in the film industry. I only wish some of the people who teach there now (like Gordon Willis) were there a decade ago when I attended.

I have a listing there for some credit design I did on a feature a while back, and I know and handful of other folks that have listings there as well. Like many other people here, I have also been able to work with many filmmakers through film festivals and special screenings as well.

I used to know this guy.
He made a documentary about 8-tracks. I haven't seen it, but how could that be bad?

One time I was talking with him about THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. He asked, "Who directed that one?" I told him that Irvin Kershner did, and he said, "Oh yeah! That's the guy who did STAKEOUT ON DOPE STREET!" There's just something about that which I find unbelievably funny and cool.

I have met many that are there, and personally know about twenty that are there. Most of my friends are actors anyway.

And of course there is Mark G.

If you look me up, you will find about twenty versions of me or so. Try to figure out if any of them are me. Probably not.
