Now that we've established the reels are "dishwasher safe," I wonder if they are safe for microwave use?

That reminds me of Marge Simpson cleaning the toilet seats before company visited.

(No, the metal insert at the hub would render them NOT microwave safe.)

The metal spindle keyways on reels like Josh's may spark up a little light show in a nuke. (EDIT: Steve beat me to the punch as I orignally wrote this).

Might not be a problem, though, with the infamous, fly-apart shipping reels now currently used in the US of A.

Josh, I am surprised your Mom lets you get away with that....But if I recall correctly, we had some parts of a Simplex E-7 we were rebuilding in the dishwasher, too.

You have one Super Mom!!!!

Hey Paul,

I'm curious...which parts from an E-7?

I'd imagine the gloss-painted housing from an early-production E-7, such as the one I'm hiding behind in my picture, would shine up nicely in a dishwasher. The later model crinkle-finish versions, on the other hand...

After such a "load", I'd have to run the machine empty, with detergent, for two cycles before chancing a load of dishware. I don't think old Simplex oil works too well on dishes.

Hey, thats why there are grease goobers in the bottom! Look really closely at the bottom of the dishwasher..........Josh, better get to it before your mom does.........all that stuff in the basement might end up in the garage.

Actually, I think that is chilli or coffee or something. This pic was taken before the dishwasher ran its cycle.

That's exactly how I clean and degrease projector parts!

The dishwasher is also an excellent way to clean a rock collection.

I've heard of dishwashers being used to clean PTRs --- warm water only, little detergent, rinse agent, and no heater.

John, would using rinse aid (like JetDry) while 'dishwashing' PTR's keep specs of dirt off your film?
