They've created a new boards system, and are asking for ideas for new boards. If you already use the boards there, having one for us might be fun, and it could also be used to recruit new users for Film-Tech.

They have seperate boards there for ALL other facets of the industry (crew, script writers, etc), so it doesn't make sense not to have one for those of us who actually present these films!

If you want to help support this idea, please go to http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000040/thread/6586?d=9271 and post a reply. Thanks!!

John:

Maybe you should let that guy know that Film-Tech is here. I might have posted the reply myself, but I didn't feel like registering just for that.

He knows. He's me.
I frequent both boards, so I think it would be great to have the communities merge. My thoughts were that more people can find imdb.com than film-tech, so we be able to continually recruit new members. Of course, if this is improper, feel free to close the thread, Brad.

There's a great risk of getting overwhelmed and increasing the "noise" and spam level linking Film-Tech from a widely read public site like IMDb. At the same time, few of us would have the time to monitor and sort through thousands of questions and comments posted by people outside the movie industry.

Better to spread the word about sites like Film-Tech and BigScreenBiz within our own industry. This can be done by letting co-workers know, putting information sheets in film shipments, and articles/ads in trade publications like Boxoffice and Film Journal. I do recall that IMDb is starting up a private subscription website IMDb Pro. that might be appropriate if they have forums.
