I just returned from a screening of Richard Linklater's stunning movie 'Waking Life'...and I have to share one scene which I know will have a certain meaning probably only to film-techers (I was the only one in the theatre who nearly fell off my seat with laughter when I saw it!).

It's a very abstract film and the scene has no context in particular, but there's a 16MM projector set up in a classroom, ready to show a movie. A hand reaches down to start the projector, and the shot tilts up and widens to reveal that the projectionist is in fact...a monkey!

The connotations of this scene won't be lost on the film-tech community. I wish I had that image of the film to post here! Maybe when the DVD comes out we can arrange that.

The trailer is on-line and contains it in the fist few seconds, I'm sure brad could get permission to use it and edit for the site, him willing. And Brad if ya can't get a hold of Linklater or the production company let me know, I can call em'. But it would be easier to leave a link some where and use that. In fact heres the address to apple. enjoy, the monkey reminds me of other assistant managers/film wrappers that work for theatres in town.
