I recieved an article from the Portland, OR. Oregonian on the 75th anniversary of the Bagdad Theater in southeast Portland.
For you Northwesterners, the Larry Moyer circuit ran this theater for several years. They actually tri-plexed the place, with a theatre in the balcony, then using the backstage area for another theater. It was taken over sometime ago and restored to it's original single screen operation and made into a beer/pizza/movie theater.
In it's heyday it was a gorgeous showplace. Not sure how it looks now since it's been a while since I've been down there.
Nice to see these theatres lasting 75 plus years though.
According to the newspaper article, some of the films showing this past weekend included "One Flew Over the Cukoos Nest" which has it's Oregon premiere at that theater.
Happy birthday Bagdad.

I was there a few years ago and it was looking good then. They had removed every other row of seats and put fixed tables there. It was my first time at a theater like this and I was surprised at how orderly and well behaved it was. I like it.
Happy birthday Bagdad

For those of you who are AAA memebers, this month's VIA magazine has a great article on Movie Palaces -- included is the Bagdad.
