With the number of theatres that are closing, How many in your area are re opening? Last year after the GCC Meyerland 8 in Houston, TX closed it re opened under the EFW Inc. This is a group of Former GCC Managers and upper level administration that had lost thier jobs in the rapid downsizing. Now here in Austin, TX the GCC Highland 10 is fixing to reopen reportedly by former GCC people. Not clear yet if it is the same group that opened the Meyerland 8 or not.

Having worked for this group before at GCC, I would say that these guys will be doing things right. Anyone seeking employment around these re-openings should consider working for Entertainment Film Works, for the pay will be good and the employees are treated as human beings. The atmosphere and general respect for everyone was unsurpassed. It was "theater done right".

EFW is opening up the Central Park 8 in Bedford on November 2nd.

Lary Miller is opening a new 10 creen in the Gateway Project here in SLC. We still don't know though if it will be food based, or entertainment based, or just plain based. All this just in time for the Olympics....or should I say...If they hold the Olympics.

Brad, Funny you should mention that. I went and applied this morning after e mailing you the Cine 6 list. It is in Fact EFW and they indeed seemed like a great bunch of people. The marquee on the front of te building reads. Coming in October. Quality Moviegoing returns to Austin. Which I have to agree, After Presidio was bought by Act 3, the presentation quality in this town went to Pure Shit. AMC never did have it, other than at the Americana, but they bought that from Trans Texas way back when, and Regal..... Well they have been Regal. The 3 new screens that were adddedto the Westgate 8 to make it the Westgate 11 are OK but the original 8 were AMC built with Booths onthe Ground level periscoped onto the screen. I hope I get the chance to work for them here in the future. The Highland 10 re opens Nov 2nd as well with only 8 screens. Two of them are damaged and it will be 4 weeks for replacements. By the way, just in case any one is intrested. Booth equipment is all Cinemacanicca V5's I believe with Auditorium 6 having a 35/70 V8. Aud 1,3 and 10 have Kintek Center/Surrounds. Aud 2,4,5,8,9, have Dolby CP55's. Aud 6 has a Dolby CP 200, and Aud 7 has and Ultra Stereo JS in the Center Surround Config. All the Dolby Aud have Digital players insatlled. Can not remeber which ones and where. The CP200 has a DA20 Dobly Digital processor. Aud 5,6 and 9 are THX. That I can remeber. Automation is Xetron or Kelmar. Platters are AW3's from Christie.
