For all you guys and gals who regurarly download mp3 files. What search engine/program do you use? I tend to use Napster and Audiogalaxy. I thought I would ask since the two of those dont seen to want to work for me at the moment.

Generally, I use something called "SneakerNet" to share songs and files. It may be old and archaic but it's virtually foolproof.

I use Morpheus right now, tried audiogalaxy and that blows...i cannot WAIT for napster to start file transfers again, because i am an avid Napster user and still use it for my playlists.

I have had success with MyNapster (www.mynapster.com)
just make sure you have bandwidth for it.

I use Kazaa, which is somewhat similar to napster, and very easy to use. It also has a better search engine, faster download times, and resumable downloads if you get disconnected.

Morpheus will actually "nap" the music city, Kazaa, and a few other servers, all with huge numbers of files on them (I've never been on a server with less than 300k gigs of content, I'm not sure if that's the real count but I find everything I'm looking for!)

Over the Labor Day weekend I had time to try out Morpheus for a few minutes. I DL/d it, installed it, etc., and was running it side by side for a test to see which was better, Morpheus, or what I had up to that point been using primarily, MyNapster. so, I sent out a few random searches for songs that I already have, just to see what each one turns up. I was suprised to see how FEW morpheus returned. I got on an average of 8-15 good returns with morpheus, while with MyNapster I would get 3-5 times that much. Granted this wasn't a stringent scientific test, but I thought it would be worthy of sharing.

I also tried Morpheus afterbeing told about how great it was. Well I couldnt figure out why it only allwed me to share only 112 files, plus the interface seemed a bit too 'webby' for my tastes. I prefer the very Napster-like look and feel of WinMX.

Right now I use Aimster, it works pretty good and is easy to use. I was told to also try MyNapster.
