Cast Away was in a 1.85 aspect ratio in its theatrical version. Today I casually browse a local shop and see Cast Away is in a 2.35 aspect ratio on DVD.

Could it be that this movie was shot in Super 35 to accommodate flat and scope?

Most likley just a typo on the DVD box. It happens often enough.

I have the DVD, it's 1.85. This isn't the first time they've mislabeled the aspect ratio on DVDs, and it probably won't be the last. The first printings of the "Antz" DVD also said 2.35, it was corrected later.

Castaway is 1.85 - it was not shot in Super-35....

BTW - Rumor has it that the DVD also claims it has
an EX soundtrack....that is also a typo - it is not
EX encoded.
