This one is starting to get more and more obvious, but am interested in hearing feedback from the members.

Who is for/against creating a separate forum dedicated to Bob Maar and jokes in general? The jokes could be posted in separate threads organizing them. This would allow the search feature to find specific jokes that you remember reading, but don't know on what page of the Joke-Yak thread they were on. All "blonde" jokes could go on one thread, all "dirty" jokes could go on another, etc, etc, etc.

Thoughts, opinions? Recommendations for a forum title?

That would be cool. You could call it the Bob Maar joke vault.

But then we'll never get to see the current Joke-Yak thread exceed 100 pages! That's the only thing that keeps me going!

A separate "Joke-Yak" Forum area would be a good idea. The jokes should be organized by topic, so those who might be offended by certain topics or language could be forewarned. I do worry that the "raunchy" and "gutter-talk" nature of some of the material may offend and drive off some participants . IMHO, truly offensive or mean-spirited postings should be discouraged.

I do not disagree with the thought of a separate thread. Many times I wonder if I have all ready posted certain jokes that are sent to my attention. Even though I do not believe in censorship some jokes I have read, I will not post a joke or antidote that in my opinion contains vile wording and language. It takes a lot to offend me but when I am offended I delete it.

I certainly enjoy a good laugh and I always try to maintain a sense of humor. I would like to see a lot more participation on behalf of the members and the lurkers who tune into film-tech. Since the lurkers can not post they could e-mail jokes or stories to me.

Below are some suggested catagories:

Sounds like a good idea to me. The current Joke-Yak is to large for a single thread. Joe, I love the new "Andrew McCrea" picture you have posted.

Since Bob is the primary contributor, I'd say go with his categories. It would be nice if you could take the existing jokes and separate them into the categories. Since I do not know how the postings are stored, or what features the software has to accomplish such a thing, I don't know if it's feasible.

I found out the hard way that the search feature does not give the page that a result is on, just the topic. I tried to find the "Things a Southerner would never say" posting a couple of weeks ago and it returned "Joke-Yak". Duh. It took about 20 minutes to find.

The posted jokes could also be rated the same way the films are rated. Since I worked on the Cara Committee back in the late sixties and early seventies I can use these guidelines for G - PG - PG-13 - R and the ever-present X ( 0r XXX which equal NR )

Let me know.

Evans, the site search feature should give you a direct link to that page if you type in a keyword that was used in that joke. The forum's search won't split things up to a specific page.

Brad, thanks for the tip. This tip is so important that I think everyone should know about it. Using the "search" feature that appears at the bottom of the page takes you to a different "search" feature than the one near the "new topic" and "post reply" buttons in the forums. Evidentally, the one at the bottom of the page is global and searches the entire site and will give links to specific pages of threads. Knowing this would have possibly saved me time on several occasions.

I wanna see em all on CD or in a book. If on a CD they could be told by Bob and there could even be a cassette version of the book as well. These would sell like hotcakes at next years Showorst, and at the truckstops around Vegas. Who knows, Bob Marr might even make the Letterman show once his true talent is revealed and discovered. Take it away Bob.....

Possible title: Bob Maar's Joke Reel (just to keep something movie-related in there!)

I been thinking about that idea for a while, now. It's a good idea. Especially the part about putting them into threads.

I'm all for it!

Bob Maar should also be the only person allowed to post. Anyone else who thinks they are funny and tries to post should immediately lose their Film-Tech membership and be kicked off of the forum.
