CBS Minnesota
quote:
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Watching movies on the big screen has gotten much more comfortable over the years, thanks to reclining seats, but a theater in Switzerland is taking that to a whole new level.

They have actual beds — 11 of them. They’re double-bed “seats.”

The theater opened last week. Tickets cost about $50, in American currency.

There’s gourmet food, and a champagne bar.

And the theater assures customers the beds are freshly made between screenings.

Hopefully they keep the lights at least partly up...or have partitions between the "seats." One or the other.

Ya, people gonna be fuckin' in those beds if MGMT don't chaperon that action! Or they're just going to have to wake up customers if the movie was boring as hell. Sounds like too much work and too much cleanup for it to be worth it. I can just picture the theater's dumpster stacked up with soiled mattresses from whatever customers were doing on them. Could be the first theater to suffer from a bedbugs outbreak.

I don't know what kind of rope someone was smoking to think sticking beds in a movie theater auditorium would be a good idea. Honestly the visual of a bunch of beds in a room like that would make me think it was the video production set of some kinky hardcore porn orgy video.

Like so many ideas, this already existed.

Electric Cinema in Nothing Hill (London) already features beds as part of their offering and they have done so for a few years at the least now...

I'm not sure if those beds will be prone to other activities happening, but I see the many hygienic complications with such an idea...

True, but they've taken a bad idea and made it worse. The whole damn auditorium is beds.

I do have a nightmare vision of showing Disney movies in there with dozens of kids bouncing on the beds during the show. Who knows if $50 a pop is enough to keep them away.

There was a theater near here that had couches instead of seats. I assume a baby or two was made in there, but it's closed now.

Please edit the title of this thread to remove the "teaser" aspect of it.

Now, now, wait your turn...the people who started the trend of foregoing masking need to depart first. [Razz]
