We just got our weekly trailer drives, and Deluxe's came in a Technicolor box. The Technicolor trailers came in their own box like usual. We also got next week's movie, from Deluxe in a regular Deluxe box. All delivered by Fed Ex. The trailer drives have UPS return labels but the movie drive has to go Fed Ex.

So if Tech is doing the trailers for Deluxe, why the F don't they just put all the trailers on one drive or at least ship the two drives in one box?

Since they've consolidated their promotional materials distribution, it makes sense.

Along with technicolor dropping 35mm distribution, the digital distribution of deluxe and technicolor are being merged into one.

Does this mean Technicolor will start using the DCDC satellite system?

You now order your materials from Vision Media, which handles Deluxe and Tech. They still ask for your Tech/Deluxe ID# when you call. I suspect they will be one happy computer standardized family within a year.

Yeah, because the integration of two ERP systems of two entirely different companies is known for it's many success stories. (Though most success stories come from the likes of Oracle and SAP and the lawyers that those processes usually involve. [Wink] )

But they'll be using two system until the end of times, or until the studios figure out those labs could largely be replaced by something like a web server, whatever comes first...

I just received email from Deluxe stating that as of June 19 there will just be one "TrailMix by Deluxe, where all studios will be serviced on one drive".

To make it complete, they should change their name to National Screen Service.

I called Deluxe today and the operator answered Deluxe-Technicolor. When I inquired about this she said each company is still handling it's same business for now. If someone needed Technicolor, she would just transfer them to Technicolor. She didn't have any information about when the systems would be integrated.

Is Tech's number still 1-80099FILMS, or did that go by the wayside with this merger?

The Technicolor number still works fine for me and they were able to assist with getting me a replacement drive earlier in the week.

For a trailer hard drive they made me call Deluxe though.

This is one aspect of the pending merger (?) that I don't mind at all. All the trailers in one place simplifies things.
