Is anyone on this thread able to tell me the average film rental cost for first-run and second-run movies in 2013? I imagine this information can be gleaned from Rentrak, but as we are not open yet, we do not have access to this system. I need the information for the financial model I am working on for our new theatre.

I'm guessing the averages are somewhere in the neighborhood of 54% (first-run) and 30% (second-run), but I'd like to get accurate and recent figures if I can.

Thanks in advance!

I think you are low on the sub-run. Most studios are not going below 35% any more. I haven't paid below 35% in years.

Also want to take into account the minimum rental amount, which continues to rise. Used to be $150. But I haven't seen below $250 in a long time. If you are still 35mm, the min can be as high as $500.

Depends on to many factors to count. But if you are primarily playing on the break, your numbers are going to be closer to 58-60%, particularly if playing major hollywood content. If you are playing off the break a few weeks, you can easily save 4-8% in rentals.

Your mileage may vary.

Subs $350 vs 35% should be expected. First-run will depend more on how competitive you and your market are really. Expect 55% average on first-run, mainstream. Slightly less for indie.
