Does anyone know anything about the status of the Cinedigm trailer drive? I haven't received one this week and in view of what I have read about the Cinedigm-Technicolor buyout, I'm wondering if the Cinedigm trailer drive has now been discontinued.

I have now sent two emails to Cinedigm to ask about this (last night and again this afternoon) and both times I received a word-for-word identical reply: "Please contact your corporate office for further information on the delivery of the cine express"

I replied and pointed out that as an independent theatre my "corporate office" is me, but that has apparently been ignored.

After receiving that same reply again this afternoon I phoned them and was told that they will email me the facts on the situation right away, please verify that this is your email address, etc. And once again that was it -- no more contact; no more information.

I would like to find out if this trailer drive has been discontinued because I have a regularly scheduled pickup set with the DHL driver every Tuesday to pick up that drive and if it has been discontinued I'll cancel those pickups so as to not be wasting the driver's time.

Sheesh.

I don't have any definitive information, but I would say it is safe to assume that ALL trailers will now be distributed through Technicolor.

Personally I am very happy about that. I always HATED having 2 sources for trailers. Also Cinedigm recently started combining the trailer drives with features, so it made it impossible to tell what the "attached trailers" were supposed to be.

(it was a bit on the weird side NOT to receive the yellow "Pelician" case on Wednesday for trailers where I only got the Orange Technicolor one...when you get so used in seeing two cases come in all the time..and with this, I notice that the drives are now 1Tb drives..)

Thing that got me was with the two that there was almost the same content on both drives...were TECH had twice as much content than the Cinedigm drives contained.

I just sent them another email, pointed out that it was my fourth attempt to get any information from them, and blasted them for their lack of response. Five minutes after sending it, I followed up with a phone call and "Blake" advised me that he would call me back in 5 minutes.

About one minute after that, he phoned back and said that he can confirm that the Cinedigm trailer drive will no longer be distributed and all trailers will come from Technicolor in the future.

So now I (and you) know. Finally.

Now I can contact DHL and cancel the Tuesday pickups.

I didn't receive a Cinedigm trailer drive this week either, but I'm not particularly worried about it. The drive hasn't really had any new content in the last few weeks and most of what it did have seemed to be redundant to the Technicolor drive.

I just received an email follow-up to the last message I sent to Cinedigm. This is apparently what they sent to the corporate offices of the major theatre chains:

quote:
Effective this week Cinedigm has transferred the delivery of digital trailers to Technicolor's Trail Mix program. This step is part of the process announced last month by both Cinedigm and Technicolor involving the acquisition of Cinedigm's delivery business. Your theatres will receive trailers either via Technicolor Trail Mix hard drives, Technicolor's satellite network or via CineXpress broadband delivery.

Our studio customers have informed us that they will be participating in Technicolor's Trail Mix program. We do not anticipate any interruption of digital trailer service. For questions regarding specific trailers, please contact Technicolor or that distributor's exhibitor relations
representative.

Please let your theatres know:

1. Digital trailers previously on Cinedigm TrailerXpress can be found on Technicolor Trail Mix hard drive beginning THIS WEEK

2. Return all Cinedigm Trailer Xpress hard drives in their YELLOW cases to Cinedigm via the pre-paid return shipping labels provided

3. This change impacts TRAILERS ONLY. Cinedigm will continue to deliver digital features for a variety of distributor clients.

Thank you

You would think that an outfit ostensibly in the business of distributing things to theatres would know that some theatres are not part of a major chain and telling folks like me to "contact your corporate office" is a completely useless reply. Especially after having the fact that I don't have a corporate office pointed out to them. Three times.

They probably know that everybody gets most of their information from Film-Tech anyway! [Big Grin]

But seriously.....what I wish is that instead of sending five or six sheets of paper containing redundant info that I don't really need with the Trail Mix, that they would send ONE sheet with the following useful info:

What's new this week

Is anyone from Technicolor reading this? Seems like we used to have a Tech member or two.

I pretty sure they are just getting ahead of the curve. Soon there will be no more theatres without corporate offices [evil]
