I just noticed the change on BoxOfficeMojo.com and confirmed it with ComingSoon.net and Foxintheatre.com. I can't find anything to say when the change was made, but it seems to be in the last day or two.

EDIT
I just found something that says this happened in November. Please tell me I'm not the only one who missed it.

You're not. I figured this would happen though...

I.M.E. showed the change at least a couple of weeks ago.
I also noticed it some time ago on boxofficemojo.com.

Smart move if you ask me - get the kiddies before Christmas,
and get away from the packed Christmas day releases.

The very existence of this movie is so dispiriting to me that I don't even have the wherewithal to call it "Electric Boogaloo."

Cassandra.

Is that with the Avatar 3D premium ticket pricing or 2D standard ticket price?

It wasn't broken down by format - just title:

Alvin beats Avatar

by Thursday, Avatar was back on top,

Yes, after listening to "Princess and the Frog" for 2 weeks with its decent songs and normal voices, it's gonna be a long 2 weeks listening to the chipmunks. But with the number of butts in the seats I won't be complaining too loudly.

We opened the film on Monday 21/12, it was very busy, had sell-outs for some shows and that was despite having two prints. The film looks terrible but you just can't complain when kids are having fun, and the ticket and food money comes flooding in! I hope there is a 'sque-three-dee-kquel'?

We had a so-so crowd on Christmas, so didn't quite know what to expect for Saturday since it's a huge go-to-Billings-shopping day around here...but we were packed, matinee and evening. This movie is kicking butt. I still don't see the appeal of it though, and I grew up during the first Chipmunk era, so I should be a real fan, but .... WTF?
