I have a few web sites I frequent for most of the information I need, but I'm curious to hear if anyone has other sites that might be useful.

The primary site I use for release dates and other information is Coming Soon - http://www.comingsoon.net. I've found they are the most reliable for release date changes and up to the minute information.

I supplement their information with IMDb, Yahoo! Movies, the studio exhibitor relations sites (when available), and sometimes BoxOfficeMojo. I just wish Disney and some of the smaller studios would start exhibitor relations sites. It's nice that Fox, Universal, and Sony have sites where you can actually order materials, but I would be happy with a site that just listed upcoming movies with release dates, running times, aspect ratios, etc.

I have absolutely no source whatsoever. I just stumble upon the information. Usually I find myself building up movies I have never heard of. Other times management will talk about a movie we are getting or I will see a trailer.

He means a site where you can order the materials you need.

Online information about the movies is simple to find - some good links have already been given.

I get I.M.E. (www.imeonline.com) so their site is good for all the information I need. If I need info on something far in the future (like when I have a new print and need to decide which of the 12 trailers to play) I use Internet Movie Database -- IMDb.com as mentioned above.

I also subscribe to Entertainment Weekly. It's valuable for knowing what movies have 'the buzz' on them, and they run annual fall, holiday, spring and summer preview issues that give good information on the films.

He did say he would be happy with a site that listed upcoming movies with release dates, running times, aspect ratios, etc.

All of that info is on the site I posted for Disney films under "Exhibitor Information."

Under "Marketing Materials" it also lists what is available and has contact information for ordering.

I keep our Coming Soon page pretty up to date:

http://www.bigscreen.com/NowShowing.php?view=comingsoon

I'm on the distribution lists for most of the major studios, so if they send out release date changes and other info, we'll have it updated on our site pretty quickly

When I get indirect word of a release date change, I usually cross reference it with other sites, most notably ComingSoon.net. The IMDb is often quite late with updating their release date information, and many other web sites just use data they are getting from CinemaSource or Tribune Media to re-publish, and those sources are usually a week or so behind release date change notifications.

Now that Fandango owns movies.com, I would expect their information to be equivalent in short order, if not already.

Yahoo Movies used to be an excellent resource for upcoming movies right after they bought out upcomingmovies.com, but I don't reference them much at all any more.

Running times are often quite hard to come by. Some studios are really good in supplying it, and others not so much.

Thanks for the link Scott. I'll check it out more throughly when I have time.

FYI, Accidental Husband has been moved to March 27, 2009. This is at least the second time it's been moved more than 6 months out. I can't help think Yari doesn't have much confidence in the movie.

Youch... Accidental Husband opened in the UK last February. It's taking 13 months to get across the pond? [Eek!]

Yeah, I caught that in my round of updates for movies that day.

It can be quite the treasure hunt to figure out when movies are going to be released, because the official web sites are often a few days behind official announcements as well. The exhibitor and press sites are usually better, while some just leave it as TBA and forget to update them.

It just proves that no one site is a complete resource, and you often have to go with the consensus that you see on the more trustworthy ones, or leave it at what the official site says, so at least you're consistent. I try to mine that information as well as possible, but I still get caught by the odd title every once in a while.

Justin, here are a few sites...

http://www.foxexhibitor.com/
http://www.miramaxpublicity.com/
http://www.paramountprogress.com/
http://www.sonypicturesreleasing.com/
http://cool.technicolor.com/
http://www.exhibitorrelations.com/
http://exhibitor.warnerbros.com/web/exhibitor/home.jsp
http://www.imeonline.com/
http://us.imdb.com/
http://www.apple.com/trailers/
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/
http://iesb.net/
http://aint-it-cool.com/
http://www.showbizdata.com/

Hope this helps some. The studio sites. you will need to setup online accounts to access materials. IESB and Ain't It Cool are insider sites and a lot of the info needs to be taken with a grain of salt. They deal with rumors.

The Disney exhibitor relations site is completely worthless. Not a bit of information about upcoming movies or about available materials. Not to mention it's inexplicably difficult to navigate.
