I do the Exhibitor relations booking for 7 theaters. I have been doing it for about 3 years now and one of my theaters just told me to not order anymore Banners, Bus shelters, Pins, Standee's, and all the extra stuff besides one sheets and trailers.

They said that it cost to much money. I never knew that they charged that much money for all of these extra things? I don't see the bills so I don't know. Basically my question is....

Does anyone know around how much each of these items cost that way I can put this theater and others like it on a cheap budget and only get stuff for major breaking movies.

My understanding has always been that the materials themselves are free; the theatre covers the shipping.?

that was always my understanding too. I know that is absolutely true on onesheets and trailers but this theater is saying that they are being charged for everything else

We have never been charged for shipping on any "extra" materials (standees, banners, buttons, minis, etc.) from any studio.

We do pay shipping on one-sheets and trailers ordered directly from Technicolor, except Warner Bros materials - no charge there at all.

Disney one-sheets ordered from Technicolor cost $5 apiece plus shipping, as do one-sheets ordered from TDS. But everything shipped out automatically through the studios (or in result of a request to Exhib Relations) has been no-charge.

I think your client is either misinformed, or unable/unwilling to put up standees and banners.

We sometimes get items shipped directly to us without our inquiry. I would imagine that they are paying for the shipping. Isn't that factored into the marketing budget of a film or is that entirely separate

I believe things like this are when people "think" they know what they are talking about and inform people incorrectly. I have been victim to this myself. A manager "informed" me that my theatre gets charged for any additional promotional material along the same lines as what you were discribing. As far as I knew shipping was the only charge ever to come into question when it comes to actually ordering anything. And the stuff that appears out of thin air from the studios themselves was in a sense free. Is there anywhere they do anything different?

We do not pay for the material either. Maybe the material is being shipped express, in which case there might be a high shipping price????!!!

Shipping prices are among the most flexible things there are. TES has an agreement with DHL to haul film for just over 20 bucks a print with overnight service...to take that same shipment into a UPS or FedEx customer counter would cost a couple hundred dollars.

The film companies broker similar deals for shipping their promotional stuff. In exchange for doing things like pre-sorting and having uniform packaging, and based on the large quantities involved, they get a good discount.
