Author Topic: Tropic Thunder Complaints? James R. Hammonds, Jr Jedi Master Film Handler Posts: 931 From: Houston, TX, USA Registered: Nov 2000 posted 06-19-2008 01:23 PM                     Just curious, has anyone had any complaints about the trailer for Tropic Thunder? I've heard of a couple of complaints where patrons complained about Robert Downey Jr. playing a black guy because it reminded them of black face. I've heard of one theater pulling all of the advertising for it completely. Mainly because it was still a few month out and we try to emphasize releases in the next month or so. But once I found out the movie was rated R, we deliberately choose not to program it on anything but R rated movies. But no, we haven't had any complaints. We have a good mix of customer base that comes to my theatre as well as having a good mix of employees. I guess they were too offended to realize that it was making fun of character actors who get very involved in their characters (Daniel Day-Lewis for example) and not black people.  |  IP: Logged
