A friend has asked me to lubricate a Motiograph AA. I have looked at the projector and manual, although the manual said to use grease, it does not say what kind. Also there are 2 copper funnel tubes on the gear side that look like they would take oil, but again what kind? This projector is used May - September
2 shows a night. Can anyone help me? I love machines and would like to help them out.

You need a tube of both Hypoid gear grease and Superlube. Both can be had from Wolk. The hypoid gear grease goes in the intermittent. The Superlube on the gear teeth. A thin film of Superlube every couple of weeks. Clean off the old grease if you can each time you re-lube. On the front of the intermittent you will find two allwn screws. Remove them both and pump in the Hypoid Gear Grease through the top hole.. fill until it starts running out the bottom hole. Replace the allen screws and wipe clean. Cleanliness is paramount in film projectors. Also, you can use the same Superlube on the gears in the sound head but they are very difficult to get to, even from underneath!!

The 2 oil tubes drip regular projector oil onto the surface of the 2 large gears inside the soundhead; the only oiling on the soundhead. A drop or 2 will do per week; more will just drop on through. Louis

Gentlemen, thanks for you help. How about the Red Caps held on with allen screws on the gear shafts. The manual leads me to think they need to be removed and the shafts lubricated?
