No exact numbers are necessary.

At my place, the top five were:

1. Cars
2. Pirates: Dead Mans Chest
3. Talledega Nights
4. Santa Clause 3
5. Ice Age 2

and just to show how redneck we are around here:
7. Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector [Big Grin]

All of my results are based on number of tickets sold, NOT on boxoffice dollars.

2006:

1. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
2. Cars
3. Ice Age: The Meltdown
4. Night at the Museum
5. Happy Feet

For fun, I'm adding our top 10 of all time (beginning in 1979 when I bought this theatre). Again, this is based on ticket numbers, NOT dollars.

1. E. T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982)
2. Titanic (1997, played here in March 1998)
3. Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
4. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
5. Shrek 2 (2004)
6. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006)
7. Lord of the Rings: Two Towers (2002)
8. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe (2005)
9. The Lion King (1994)
10. Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)

I don't have the information in front of me right now, but here's my guesses at our best.

1. Cars
2. Pirates 2
3. Ice Age 2
4. Garfield 2
5. Facing the Giants

Gotta love discount houses. Even the biggest bombs will do well.

Talledega Nights did $6million in Australia. Not a hit but not a flop either.

Of course, there's always some places movies just don't work. I think its biggest problem was it was about NASCAR racing. Normally box office poison in Australia. The only reason CARS did so well was it was a PIXAR film. If anyone else had tried it it would have been supporting Talledega in week one.

NASCAR is very popular where I live and we usually do well with Will Ferrell movies. A potent combo for around here.

As you can tell, Telluride is nothing if not inconsistent! I've learned never to be too surprised when a dog does well or a good film is treated like a dog.
