Has anyone heard if there will be any new prints struck for the 40th anniversary of "The Sound of Music", and if so will there be any done in 70mm?

Not sure; I hope so. But...Fox did strike (at least) one new 70mm-DTS print last year or the year before. I'm not sure if the print is available for booking. I'm aware of a couple of screenings in Los Angeles for a Robert Wise retrospective and special events at the Academy.

Its not available for general bookings. We tried and were turned down last summer...... Seems they don't want to let it out of town.....

Are they playing one of the new prints at the Widescreen Weekend in Bradford UK? It's on the schedule for March 13.

The American Cinematheque in Hollywood, CA has been running their 5th annual 70mm festival this last couple of weeks. The Sound of Music isn't on the list this year, but they did run it in 70mm just a couple of years ago. Beautiful print.
