How about doing something for gay dads? Under One Roof in San Francisco has this great ad with a guy wearing a t-shirt that says "My Father Went To Gay Pride and All I Got Was Another Dad" Seriously, a good promotion tied to gay dads would be both unique and potentially newsworthy. What about designating a special screening of Shrek 2? Assuming you would still be playing it, it would bring in potential new and repeat business on a title that you aren't paying top dollar film rental for (theoretically, at least unless it settles on an aggregate). It could be good outreach to the gay community and potentially get positive press for your theatre.
