Saturday night June 19, Father's Day Eve, I would like some gimmick to honor dads, like a prize for the oldest dad and for the youngest dad. Any ideas?

1. Dad with the most children coming to the movies with him.

2. Dad with the most air miles (Dreamworks "The Terminal" opens on June 18)

Robert, Welcome to the forum.

It is too bad I was never married and had children and could qualify as one of the oldest dads but I know there a few who are older than me with children who do qualify.

Well Fathers Day is also around the time of many cities Gay Pride celebrations. How about doing something for gay dads? Under One Roof in San Francisco has this great ad with a guy wearing a t-shirt that says "My Father Went To Gay Pride and All I Got Was Another Dad"

Seriously, a good promotion tied to gay dads would be both unique and potentially newsworthy. What about designating a special screening of Shrek 2? Assuming you would still be playing it, it would bring in potential new and repeat business on a title that you aren't paying top dollar film rental for (theoretically, at least unless it settles on an aggregate). It could be good outreach to the gay community and potentially get positive press for your theatre. But it has to be handled right with dignity, respect, and acceptance.

Get some La-Z-Boy chairs. Put them in the lobby and have a Father's Day sit-in. Last Dad Sitting wins.
